Laura Ansaldi: A Visionary Soprano Redefining Opera and the Arts
Zurich, April 2025 – Internationally acclaimed Italian soprano and actress Laura Ansaldi continues to captivate audiences worldwide with her powerful voice, artistic versatility, and groundbreaking interdisciplinary projects. Recognized for her exceptional ability to blend opera with contemporary artistic expressions, she remains at the forefront of innovation in classical music and performing arts.
Having performed in prestigious venues across Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, the United States, Switzerland, and Qatar, Ansaldi has solidified her reputation as a “dramatic soprano with agility.” Her extensive repertoire spans from Tosca and Madama Butterfly to the intense roles of Leonora (La Forza del Destino) and Abigaille (Nabucco).
Beyond her celebrated opera career, Ansaldi is an artistic visionary who seeks to redefine the boundaries between music and visual arts. In 2025, she was invited as an Artist-in-Residence at GlogauAIR in Berlin, a prestigious program traditionally reserved for visual artists. There, she developed “What If It Would Be Enough”, a thought-provoking video installation challenging the excess and extravagance often associated with classical music. Featuring raw, intimate performances from world-renowned musicians, the project strips away the superficiality of opera, bringing music back to its purest form. The installation is already available online and will soon be ready for the vernissage at the GlogauAIR gallery in Berlin.
Ansaldi’s commitment to artistic evolution is evident in her recent projects, including "Verdi Rachmaninoff 2023," a fusion of opera and digital art; "The Phantom of the Opera," a live music performance accompanying the silent film; and "Akhmatova Songs," which combined contemporary music with a fine art exhibit. In August 2024, she performed at the Budapest National Gallery, uniting classical masterpieces with live music.
Her impact extends beyond the stage, as she is deeply involved in music education and philanthropy. She teaches young singers in Zurich and served as a jury member for international competitions, such as the Mozart Festival in Malta. A passionate advocate for social causes, she is a patron of the Enrico Charles Foundation and supports various Swiss charities benefiting children with disabilities.
In February 2025, Ansaldi traveled to Doha, Qatar, as part of the Swiss Foundation Bridging Nations, where she performed at the closing ceremony of an art workshop featuring 17 professional artists and 17 disabled students painting with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). She was deeply touched by her visit to the Shafallah Center, learning about the incredible work being done for children with disabilities. This experience reinforced her belief in using music as a means to inspire and uplift. “For me, this is truly the main purpose of my job: to give something to people and to highlight such beautiful realities,” she said. “I was so proud to be invited to be part of it.”
During her time in Doha, she also had the honor of performing one of Dana Al Fardan’s songs, an artist whose music she deeply admires. She was warmly welcomed by both the Italian and French embassies, an experience she cherished. Her contributions were further recognized when she received a prestigious award from Shafallah, officially presented to her by the Minister of Culture and Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Thani, CEO of the Qatar Social Work Foundation.
Ansaldi’s most extraordinary lifetime experience was receiving the Platinum Medal in October 2024 from the 110-year-old French Academy of Arts-Sciences-Letters, a recognition of her outstanding contributions to opera and the arts.
As she continues to push artistic boundaries in 2025, Ansaldi remains dedicated to creating transformative experiences for audiences worldwide.
